Pupils at The Albany School in Hornchurch have been picking up their GCSE results this morning.

And 13-year-old Pawan Matabadul will be joining in the celebrations after taking his GCSE maths three years early – and getting an A*.

Pawan, who lives in Rush Green with proud parents Sasita and Rajah, said he was now looking forward to tackling his A-level next year.

He said: “I decided I would probably just do it. It was quite easy.”

And he said he was also thinking of taking other GCSEs next year.

“I don’t really have anything to do other than watch TV, whcih I find a bit of a waste of time,” he said.

Mum Sasita said: “I’m so proud – he was just born with this. He doesn’t have to do a lot of hard work.

“It’s hidden in himself.”

And dad Rajah, who works as an oncology nurse at Queen’s Hospital, said: “It was a lot of hard work. His teachers are also very proud.”

He said Pawan was not the only high achieving youngster in the family, with sister Kheatee, 18, gaining an A* in her photographer A-level last week.

And his eldest sister Shiksha, 22, was crowned Miss Mauritius International last year.
Teachers at the Albany School also paid tribute to Pawan’s achievements, as well as the school’s Year 11s.
Head of maths Suzy Arrowsmith said he was an “absolute hard worker”.
She said: “He’s just naturally gifted at maths. He takes on every challenge that we’ve given him.
“It’s quite rare. He really enjoys maths and does a lot of work in school and outside.”
Assistant head teacher Gary Wimbush said pupils had made some outstanding achievements in this year’s results, with several receiving all As and A*s.
Luke Taylor achieved 1A*, 6As and 4Bs, Emily Fitzpatrick received 9A*s and 2As, James Minton got 7A*s and 4As and 1B, Ashan Rashid got 4A*s, 4As and 2Bs and Gracia Mbonazo got 9As, 1A*s and 2B.
