Havering Business Awards 2018 saw 21 businesses in the borough competing for eight prestigious awards.

The ceremony, held at CEME, the Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence, in Marsh Way, Rainham saw more than 200 guests in glamorous outfits enjoy an evening of entertainment on Thursday, February 8.

With several sponsors, including the Recorder, the event was hosted by Time FM’s DJ Mark Dover and organised by Havering Council.

The leader of the council, Cllr Roger Ramsay opened the festivities, explaining this year’s theme, Celebrate and be Inspired.

The businesses were assessed not only for their financial success, but also their ties to the community and their plans to continue bringing in business to the borough in the future.

A specialist training and employment company, The STC Group scooped the coveted Business of the Year award along with Growing Business of the Year award.

The STC Group was described as, “the winner that best represents Havering in its success, it’s role in the local economy, and as an ambassador for the borough.”

Based in Church Road, the company provides training, employment and recruitment solutions for young people and adults trying to build their futures.

They currently deliver apprenticeships across three main sectors, professional services, construction, and health and wellbeing.
