Firefighters were called early this morning after a family discovered a plumbing problem had flooded their home.

A fire crew from Harold Hill arrived on the scene in Montgomery Crescent at about 4am to find water covering the whole ground floor of the council house.

The crew spent half an hour mending a pipe under the sink and clearing the worst of the water.
