Two 20-year-olds from Chadwell Heath and Goodmayes have been charged in connection with a robbery in Southend on Saturday (January 20).

Akiff Ali, 20, of Mannin Road, Chadwell Heath, has been charged with robbery, Essex Police announced.

Ervin Balliu, 20, of Medici Close, Goodmayes, has been charged with robbery and possession of a knife in a public place.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was walking through a car park in Southend at 4.30am on Saturday when three men approached him and assaulted him.

The men stole personal possessions from the victim, who was later taken to hospital with non-serious injuries, and then ran off.

A third man, 22-year-old Donamichie Scarlett of Daniels Road, south London, has also been charged with robbery.

All three men are due to appear at Southend Magistrate’s Court again on March 12.
