A Hornchurch children’s charity will be celebrating its 25th anniversary later this month.
First Step will be marking the event on Monday, October 21, by burying a time capsule in its sensory garden and a party for families, supporters, staff and friends almost to the day the first session was held in October 1988 in Upminster.
From 11am to 1pm guests will hear about the charity’s history from founders Gill Hare and Margaret Williams
CEO Tricia Cowdrey said: “This is a very important event for all of us at First Step and we are very proud to have been supporting our community for 25 years.
“We would like to extend an invitation to all those who have been part of First Step’s history to come along.
“First Step offers so much to so many families – support, friendship, guidance, encouragement, empowerment, resilience, of being part of a community which does not judge or stare.”
She said the charity had survived due to its focus on needs led services and a commitment to provide what is relevant.
She added: “We will, inevitably, continue to evolve but I would like to assure all those who have helped establish First Step, that our vision, commitment and focus will not change”.
If you would like to attend you can RSVP by Monday to Michelle Mitchell on 01708 556355 or email email@example.com
