The cash was from the store’s Chosen By You, Given By Us scheme, for which customers are given tokens handed out at the till and asked to post theirs in one of three charity boxes in the shop.

Karen Burton, community colleague at Asda Romford, said: “We are pleased to be supporting such a worthwhile charity. We work hard to help local charities and our customers and staff are always very generous in their support.”
