Firefighters pulled a man from a burning bungalow in a country lane in Upminster earlier this morning.

A London Fire Brigade spokesman confirmed four fire engines and 21 firefighters were called to a fire at a bungalow in Fen Lane at 9.04am, where officers in special breathing apparatus rescued a man from the burning property.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

The fire was under control by 10.15am and parts of the bungalow sustained significant fire damage.

Firefighters from Romford and Dagenham fire stations were first called, alongside colleagues from Essex Fire and Rescue Service.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
