Fire in Cummings Hall Lane, Harold Hill ends in Water Board being called

Tonnes of rubbish which caused black smoke to billow over a caravan park took firefighters three hours to extinguish with the Water Board even getting involved due to the amount of water being used.

Firefighters were called at 11pm last night after about 80 tonnes of rubbish pilled high on a private piece of land in Cummings Hall Lane, Harold Hill caught light.

A firefighter said: “It was turning out so much smoke over the caravan park that we had to get it out.”

Two fire engines and 10 firefighters were sent to the scene and eventually a representative from the Water Board due to the amount of water being used.

The smoke was affecting people staying in the Lakeview Caravan Park in the same road.
