Families can now free-wheel through the open air and beautiful English countryside thanks to a new council scheme.

Positive Parents Cycling provides everyone the chance to experience the joy of cycling, with a variety of specially adapted bikes for disabled children for hire at Thames Chase Forest Centre in Pike Lane, Upminster.

To Launch the project the centre is holding a community market on Sunday from 10am-4pm where there will be a chance to try out the bikes. There will also be a range of stalls selling local food produce, crafts, a café with homemade lunches and cakes, walking trails and even an appearance from Olympic athlete Fatima Whitbread.

Havering’s cabinet member for environment, Cllr Robert Benham, said: “This is a fun opportunity to celebrate the summer and reinforce our community spirit as well as being an inclusive event which allows people of all experiences and ages to get outside and get involved in cycling.”

The project is in partnership with Thames Chase Trust.
