Upminster toddler alerts mum to toy car fire

13:58 04 June 2014

A quick-thinking toddler saved the day when he told his mother about a fire that destroyed his toy car.

Fire crews were called to a property in Tomkyns Lane, Upminster at 4pm yesterday and found the electrical model car “completely destroyed.”

A spokesman said: “A boy of about three had reported to his mum that he could smell burning. It was on flames, the car is ruined.”

The Wennington crews were at the scene for 45 minutes and are now investigating the cause of the fire.
