16:53 21 August 2014
Pupils parted ways with their school while celebrating their GCSE results at Redden Court School this morning.
The school on Cotswold Road, Harold Hill, reported that 66 per cent of pupils achieved five or more A* to C grades including English and maths this year.
Among those celebrating the results was 16-year-old, Sean Nicoliades, of Hornchurch, who achieved two A*s, two As, three Bs, two Cs and an E.
Sean said: “I feel relieved - the school has helped me a lot. During my time here I knew I could go back after school and they would always give me help.”
Manmit Rao, 16, of Hornchurch - who got an A*, three As, four Bs and a C - said: “It feels amazing to get these results, the teachers are always willing to help you and they encourage you to put in extra.”
Redden Court headteacher Paul Ward said: “Our overall A* to C is down on last year but we expected that because of the curriculum changes to English - and in maths, there’s been harsher marking.”
