Havering GCSEs 2014: Sacred Heart of Mary Girls’ School

Promising pupils have been named as this year’s top achievers at a school despite a dip in GCSE results.
Sacred Heart of Mary Girls’ School in St Mary’s Lane, Upminster, named 16-year-olds Melissa Oliver, Megan Galt and Georgia Harris as their top three pupils this year with 25 A*s between them.
Melissa achieved 10 A*s and an A, Megan got eight A*s and three As, and Georgia bagged seven A*s and four As.
Sacred Heart headteacher Kim O’Neill said: “These results are a testament to the hard work the staff and the girls have put in - they couldn’t work any harder.”
The school did see an overall dip in English and maths results this year.
Mrs O’Neill said: “Our five A* to C percentage with English and maths has had a dip, but we were expecting that – in line with the removal of the speaking and listening English exams from the curriculum.”
