The Emerson Park Academy posted its best ever GCSE results in English and maths this year.

The standard pass rate at the school in Wych Elm Road, which records students who score Grades 4 and higher has risen to 72pc – representing a record achievement for the school.

The pass rate for English was 84pc and maths 78pc.

One Year 11 pupil – Sam Young – managed an incredible nine grade 9s, setting his performance among the very best in the country.

Headteacher Scott McGuinness said: “We are very proud of the results and look forward to building on this success with our current pupils and parents.

“A great day for everyone at Emerson Park.”
