The father of a 16-year-old who took his A-levels two years early, says he is extremely proud of his son’s achievements.

Pawan Matabadul, of Rush Green, joined college leavers at Oaks Park Sixth Form, in Newbury Park, yesterday (Thurs) to find out his results and to his dad Rajah’s delight, he got an A* in maths and an A in both physics and further maths.

Rajah said: “He puts so much effort into everything that he does and he’s got these great results to show for it.

“I am extremely proud of him and what he’s done so far.”

But despite his dad’s delight, as well as receiving 100pc on one of the modules in maths, Pawan believes he could have done even better.

“I don’t feel that happy,” he said.

“I mean the overall grades are good but I feel that I could have done better in further maths – I wanted an A*.

“Everyone wasn’t that surprised, they expected me to do really well, because I was the most consistent person in class and I tried to help other people when they were struggling.”

Pawan, a former pupil at The Albany School, Broadstone Road, Hornchurch, showed signs of early development so his parents transferred him to London Brookes College, Hendon, where he revised for his GCSEs and took them at just 14.

He received four A*s in chemistry, physics, biology and statistics as well as a B in English literature and Cs in English language and further maths.

With his excellent results, Pawan will be attending Brunel University to study aerospace engineering.

He said: “I want to be a pilot but not straight away, that’s a future plan.

“I’m interested in aviation so want to learn more about the engineering of planes and how they work.

“I taught myself some of the stuff before I started taking the classes, so that got me ahead of everyone initially and the internet has everything, so I learned a lot from that as well.

“It is a really good sixth
form too, they were very supportive.

“Age is just a number, it’s all about your mentality.”
