Easter fun to raise money for a Hornchurch children’s charity

Easter eggs have been donated to raise money for a children’s charity.

Children from RJ Mitchell School, The Mercury Mall in Romford, and Ford’s Dagenham South estate joined forces to donate the eggs and raise money for First Step. The charity will distribute them to the children and families that attend sessions at the centre in Hornchurch.

Tracey Gardener, from Ford in Dagenham, said: “Here at Dagenham we are very proud of the strong links that we have we local charities.

“Employees have already very generously donated over 200 eggs for this year’s Easter Egg Appeal and we still have more coming in.”

Some of the eggs will be used in an Easter egg hunt at the Mercury Mall to raise money for the charity.

Customers will be welcomed to an Easter garden on Friday, March 29, and Saturday 30, from 10am to 4pm and can get a personalised Easter card and have their photo taken the with an Easter bunny. Children can take part in the hunt on level one of the shopping centre and can exchange tokens for an Easter egg. Face painting will also be available. It costs £2 to take part in each of the activities, or two activities for £3, which will be donated to First Step.

Pupils from RJ Mitchell will also be painting the backdrop for the Easter garden.

“First Step relies on the support of our community to help us provide our services and we thank everyone involved with the project and all those who attend the event in The Mercury Mall over the Easter weekend.”
