Has the festive season left you with unwanted presents or extra goodies?

If the answer is yes, then you may be able to put them to good use and support Saint Francis Hospice.

The hospice, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, is appealing for donations of unwanted gifts or quality second-hand items, such as electrical goods, and clothes, if you have received new ones.

Unopened chocolates

The fundraising team will welcome donations of bottles of alcohol, unopened chocolates or tins of biscuits, perfume sets or vouchers which it can use as auction or raffle prizes and raise funds for patient care.

Also, if you have unwanted clothes, toys, TVs, furniture, mobile phones or electrical items, then why not take them along to any of the 15 hospice shops across Havering, Brentwood, Dagenham and Redbridge? Collections of large items can also be arranged.

Steve Rose, hospice shops general manager, said: “If you are having a clear-up after the festive season to make room for new items and find gifts, clothes, furniture or other products you no longer need, but are in a good condition, please donate them to our shops rather than throw them out.

“Your donations will be appreciated and make a difference as they can be used to raise money for Saint Francis Hospice’s doctors, nurses and medical team to provide its vital care to local people affected by cancer or other life-limiting illness when they need it.”
