Dog trapped in forest piping in Harold Hill finds safety

19:10 14 May 2014

A dog had to be guided out of a pipe by firefighters in woodland on Wednesday (14) after it got stuck.

The Jack Russell - called “Jack” - was trapped inside the pipe about 12 inches underground near Sheffield Drive, Harold Hill, from about noon.

The owner initially called the RSPCA but the charity referred the call on to Romford fire crew.

Dave Torrice, 53, the office in charge, said: “It is the first call out I have had involving a dog - certainly one which has been stuck in a pipe.

“The owner and dog were relieved once reunited.”

The fire crew managed to free the dog by smashing holes in the pipe which helped the pet find safety.

The unnamed female owner, from Sheffield Drive, had only been living in the area for two days, so was unaware of the dangers her dog faced when walking in the forest.
