A man has died this morning after being hit by a train at Chadwell Heath Station.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokeswoman confirmed officers were called at 9.10am to reports of a person hit by a train near Chadwell Heath train station.

The man sadly died of his injuries at the scene. BTP officers are working to trace his next of kin.

The BTP spokeswoman said said: “The man’s death is not currently being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Chadwell Heath was temporarily closed as authorities responded to the incident but has now reopened.

National Rail are accepting Greater Anglia and TfL Rail customers on all reasonable routes while the services are cancelled or delayed.

TfL Rail and Greater Anglia services are now returning to normal, but some trains may still suffer delays.
