Delays and cancellations due to signal failure at Liverpool Street station

PUBLISHED: 09:28 28 April 2014 | UPDATED: 09:33 28 April 2014

Passengers have been facing delays and cancellations between Liverpool Street and Shenfield due to signalling problems.

The failures have been going on since 6.15 this morning and have seen delays of up to 20 minutes, according to an Abellio Greater Anglia spokesman.

Signal failures fall under the remit of Network Rail.

The issues are at Liverpool Street station and have restricted the movement of trains in and out of the station.

A spokesman for the rail infrastructure operators said: “Engineers have been on site for a couple of hours and it looks like they are close to resolving the problem.”

He added that “residual delays” may continue for a few hours after fixing the issue.
