The canine companions will be competing in variety of categories at this year‘s Havering Happy Hounds, which will take place at Central Park, Harold Hill.

The annual contest is in its fourth year and will be welcoming the four-legged contestants in 11 categories, including most handsome and prettiest, waggiest tail and dog most like its handler.

The Dog’s Trust will be at the Havering Council event on June 22 and will be on hand to microchip dogs for free, while providing owners with free neutering vouchers too.

Happy Hounds organiser Lynne Locke said: “The idea is to promote responsible dog ownership.

“There’s a message that we’re trying to put across, so people get their dogs microchipped.” She added: “It’s becoming more and more popular, it’s a fun dog show.”

Dog owners should register their dogs at 11.30am on the day if they want to compete.

Registration costs £1.50 per dog and the event runs from 12pm and finishes at 4.30pm.
