The youngsters had been working on an A1 canvas at after-school clubs run by Crossroads Care Havering – and they were brimming with pride as their handiwork was unveiled earlier this month.

The event was part of an “afternoon of thanks” for local businesses who have sponsored the charity’s work. They included bgpartnerships, who donated a digital camera to the children’s clubs and supported the charity’s move to its new building last year.

The painting was presented to carers, staff and local business representatives, along with people who receive care at Crossroads, on Wednesday, March 6.

It is now hanging in the Pettits Lane centre’s training room.

Ralph Page, lead care support worker for the clubs, said: “The participants having their final artwork on the wall and presented to an audience, covered by the Romford Recorder, was overwhelming. Their confidence has grown and it’s been lovely to see them all pull together as a team.”
