Crossrail workers at a Romford construction whose sackings sparked industrial action have been reinstated following negotiations with their employer.

Electricians working on the cross-London infrastructure project staged a demonstration at the new signalling centre on Monday after three staff were sacked following requests to be “put on the books”.

All 13 electricians at the Waterloo Road site were employed through agencies, worker Graeme Boxall said.

He and two others were fired after asking to be employed directly by contractors TClarke, the 34-year-old claimed.

But following their demonstration, which he said involved all 13 electricians and around 30 supporters, they were reinstated.

“All has been resolved,” he said.

“It’s my understanding TClarke is now in negotiations with Unite the Union to make this the case across all the [Crossrail] sites.

“I hope that’s true because it’s a disgrace.”

He added he had received the call on Monday evening and returned to work on Tuesday.

Contractors TClarke has been contacted for comment.
