Violent mugging in Collier Row after suspect befriended victim on walk home from pub

A violent mugging took place last night leaving the 24-year-old victim with wounds to his face.

As the victim was walking home from a local pub he was befriended by the suspect but, when they crossed Bacon Link, Collier Row, the assailant demanded cash and became violent.

Police were called to the scene at 11.30pm.

The victim had his wallet and mobile phone taken in the robbery and the London Ambulance Service took him to an east London hospital where he was treated.

His wounds were deemed not to be life threatening.

No arrests have been made and Havering Police are investigating.

The road remains cordoned off by police, a resident says.

Police would like to hear from any witnesses who have not yet come forward.
