Romford Station has reopened after a man was killed by a train earlier today.

The station was closed following the incident just after 4.15pm this afternoon.

All four lines through Romford have now reopened with disruption expected until 9pm.

Tubes and buses are accepting Greater Anglia tickets and advance purchase tickets are being accepted on later journeys.

The man was hit at just after 4.15pm by the 3.30pm service from Southend Victoria to Liverpool Street.

All four lines through Romford were closed, affecting all services, but they have now reopened.

A spokesman for British Transport Police, which is investigating the incident, said: “The man was pronounced dead at the scene. We are currently working to identify him, and officers will assist in the compilation of a report for the coroner.”

The death is being treated as non-suspicious.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended the scene with two crews and a single responder alongside the Metropolitan Police.

“Sadly, one person was dead at the scene,” an LAS spokesman said.
