Senior police officers praise the work of dedicated volunteers in Havering

A team of dedicated volunteers who last year gave 9,837 hours of support to the Metropolitan Police in Havering have been praised during National Volunteers Week.
More than 50 volunteers assist police in a variety of roles including the Volunteer Police Cadets, speaking to victims of crime and helping out on the front counter at Romford Police Station.
Superintendent Cheryl Burden said: “They perform a valuable role and I know that my staff are grateful for the support they provide”
During Volunteers Week member’s of Havering Police’s Senior Leadership Team spoke to volunteers.
Chief Inspector Russell Taylor said “They are a great help and they ensure that the Neighbourhood Officers are actually out patrolling the streets of Havering rather than performing administrative tasks behind a desk”
