18:00 04 May 2013

A driver who dragged a man out of his car and beat him senseless in a fit of road rage, has been jailed for six months.

Matthew Humphrey, 33, of Marwell Close, Romford, attacked Tony Hamilton after he hit his parked car as he turned off the A127 on to the M25 near Upminster, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard.

Mr Hamilton was left with serious scars to his head, and says he can’t leave his house without a hat.

In a statement read to the court, he said: “I am now left with a large, permanent scar on the side of my head, and as I don’t have hair it is visible to everyone.

“I find myself unable to leave the house without a hat as people always ask me how I got it.

“I feel people look at me and judge me, thinking I am trouble. I am going for job interviews at the moment, and I am worried they may see it as off-putting.”

Mr Hamilton admitted drinking prior to the cras.

Humphrey admitted one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
