A 65-year-old man has been arrested at an address in Romford on suspicion of murdering 85-year-old Rosina Coleman in Ashmour Gardens.

Police launched a murder investigation after Ms Coleman was found dead in her Romford home with serious injuries on Tuesday, May 15.

A post mortem examination determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head and neck.

The London Ambulance Service and police were called to Ashmour Gardens just after 11.30am on Tuesday, May 15 to reports of a woman found dead in her home.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Det Insp Paul Considine, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command unit, is leading the investigation.

He said: “Whilst we have made an arrest today, the investigation into Rosina’s murder remains ongoing and I continue to appeal for witnesses.

“Were you in Ashmour Gardens on Tuesday 15 May? Every fragment of information is beneficial to our investigation and it is imperative that we gather as much evidence as we can against the person responsible for this horrendous offence.”

An 83-year-old who lives in Priests Avenue said that he knew Rose.

He said: “She was a seamstress or a presser.

“She still made all her own clothes, very incredible person she used to do all my own ironing. We were very very good friends.

“I can’t think of anyone who would want to harm her at all.”
