London Bridge terror attack: Inquests to open into victims’ deaths

Inquests into the deaths of eight people killed in the London Bridge terror attacks are set to open at Southwark Coroner’s Court today and tomorrow.

The victims were killed on Saturday, June 3 when three attackers ploughed into pedestrians on London Bridge with a white van before stabbing people in Borough Market.

The terrorists – Khuram Butt, 27, and Rachid Redouane, 30, from Barking, and Youssef Zaghba, 22, believed to be from Ilford – were shot dead by police just eight minutes after the first emergency call was made.

Among their victims were Xavier Thomas, 35, from France, whose body was recovered near Limehouse after being knocked into the Thames, and Spanish-born Canary Wharf banker Ignacio Echeverria Miralles de Imperial, 39, who lived in Poplar.

James McMullan, 32, from Hackney, was also killed, as were Frenchmen Sebastien Belanger, 36, and Alexandre Pigeard, 26.

Canadian Christine Archibald, 30, died in her fiance’s arms, while two Australian victims have been named as nurse Kirsty Boden, 28, and Sara Zelenak, 21.
