Police cadets gave people in Cranham advice on how to avoid falling prey to car crime.

Officers and staff from the Havering Volunteer Police Cadets knocked on doors and spoke to people in roads recently hit by vehicle crooks – Springfield Gardens, The Grove and Sycamore Avenue.

They targeted people who had left their cars unlocked, or who had left valuable items on display in their cars.

The cadets handed out crime prevention leaflets and gave tips on keeping their property safe.

PC Craig Blackwood of Cranham Safer Neighbourhoods Team said: “It was a good experience for the cadets taking part first-hand in giving out crime prevention advice regarding car crime.”
