A collision between a police car and another vehicle in Romford has prompted a police investigation.

The accident at the junction between the A12 and Pettits Lane at 5.25pm last night caused a major traffic build up in the surrounding area.

The Essex Police car was driving to central London as part of an ongoing incident when the collision with a silver Peugeot 206 happened.

An Essex Police spokesman said there were no injuries.

Crews from Romford Fire Station attended the scene but this was as a precautionary measure to cover an oil spill from a leaked radiator with sand.
