The little girl with the big voice impressed X Factor judges and viewers during her audition on Saturday.
Lydia Lucy, 20, sang The Way That You Make Me Feel for her second audition to a packed crowd and won praise from all four judges.
And the Collier Row singer is hoping to follow in the footsteps of her brother Luke White who made it to the judges’ houses stage last year with his band Times Red.
Nicole Scherzinger said during her audition: “You looked like you were having fun up there. You can sing and you owned it. You really impressed me.”
Sharon Osbourne added: “You are confident, you have a great voice. It was a great audition.”
Lydia said: “I’m so pleased and overwhelmed with the support I have had. It is amazing the way people have responded to me being on the show.
“A lot of people have been surprised because they say that I am like a little girl but with a big voice.”
Her mum Linda said she was proud of her performance and said people in Romford had been “extremely supportive”.
She said: “Me and her dad were terribly nervous for her when she had her first audition, but she did so well.
“And when she went on stage for her second audition she was nervous by the amount of people, but didn’t let it affect her performance.
“She has done so well and has been meeting lots of people. This is something that she always wanted to do.
“Her brother has been giving her lots of advice from when he was on the show, but it is still nerve-wracking for her.”
The singer attended Parklands School, before going to Marshalls Park. She then left to join the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School to hone her acting and singing skills.
After completing a three-year performing arts course at the Urdang Academy in London, she returned to the borough to continue studying performing arts at Havering College. Earlier this year she appeared in the Channel 4 show Youngers, but said she her wanted to continue singing.
A landlady locked herself upstairs whilst “fearless” burglars smashed apart five fruit machines in her pub – this was the second raid in the area in half an hour.
