A man was taken to hospital following a fire in his home.

Firefighters were called to reports of a fire in Barham Close, Collier Row, at 4.40pm on Sunday, September 30.

A spokesman from the London Fire Brigade said: “The fire took place on the first floor and 25 per cent of the kitchen was damaged by the fire.

“One man was assisted by firefighters and treated by the London Ambulance Service.”

Two fire engines and 10 firefighters attended the fire.

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman added: “We sent an incident response officer, an ambulance crew and a single responder in a car to the scene.

“We also dispatched our Hazardous Area Response Team.

“We treated a person at the scene and took them to hospital.”
