“Love gardening? Love visiting gardens? Love learning about gardening?

“Then why not join Upminster and District Horticultural Society and enjoy our gardening-themed talks and outings.

“Talks are on topics such as garden design, gardening for pollinators, pruning fruit trees, and wildlife in Havering.

“Our outings are to gardens across the south east of England such as Hever Castle, Leeds Castle, Polesdon Lacey and Hyde Hall.

“The most recent trip was to Waddesdon Manor, where members enjoyed the beautiful gardens and house.

“We hold talks every month and also have a fundraising night when we support a local charity.

“Entry is generally free for members and £2 for non-members, with a raffle and refreshments available.

“Outings take place every month from April to October. They are always very well supported so are only open to members.

“We also have our society’s Christmas lunch every December.

“The society is more than 100 years old and is looking forward to a flourishing future for the people of Upminster and the surrounding areas.

“We are busy forging links with garden centres, nurseries and florists to encourage all things horticultural around the area.”
