“The Haverettes All Girls Marching Band is a military-style marching band based in Hornchurch. It was formed in 1965 by Alf and Sylvia Smith because their daughter Barbara and other girls could only march behind the Hornchurch Drum and Trumpet Corps as majorettes.

“With members from as young as eight years old up to the age of 25, we cater for girls who would like the opportunity to play a traditional musical instrument.

“The band is involved in many competitions, local and national fetes, carnivals and parades throughout the year.

“They are available for a variety of different events and functions, have taken part in numerous pop videos and have performed in countries such as Norway, Germany, Holland and Belgium.

“The girls also marched in the “pre-parade” at Disneyland Paris in November, where they had a brilliant time and were praised by Disney.

“So if you live in the Havering area, want to learn to play a musical instrument and want to meet new friends, then come along and check us out.

“We have fully qualified music instructors; you don’t have to be able to play an instrument already. We’ll teach you everything!”
