Pam Williams, the secretary of the Havering Numismatic Society, talks about her club.
“Havering Numismatic Society, established in 1967, has been serving Havering and the surrounding districts since its onset, promoting an interest in coins, tokens, banknotes and medals.
“People are more than welcome to come along as guests before becoming members, so they have a chance to check us out.
“We normally have eight or nine evenings per year with speakers giving a slide presentation on a variety of numismatic subjects.
“We also issue a quarterly newsletter letting people know what’s going on in the society, together with interesting articles submitted by members.

“From time to time we arrange away days to places of interest, which have included Coutts Bank, the Guildhall and the Bank of England.
“We have strong connections with local museums and have installed exhibits on various subjects.
“Our feedback from the museums has all been positive, with particular interest being shown by organised school visits.
“We also put on exhibits for county shows.
“Our next events are a talk on British campaign medals awarded during the Napoleonic Wars and a Christmas social.
“We like to think of ourselves as a friendly society where all people are welcome, whether an experienced numismatist or a complete novice.”
