Karen Heilbrunn, physical activity coordinator for the Havering Health and Sports Development Team, talks about the new dodgeball sessions being held in the borough.
“Be prepared to dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge, as dodgeball has arrived in Havering!
“The Havering Health and Sports Development Team, in partnership with the UK Dodgeball Association (UKDBA), has been running a weekly adult Dodgeball session since July this year.
“The sessions, which cost £2, are coached by Pete Mynard, who is the Essex UKDBA Activator, and they have proved popular, attracting over 15 participants each time.
“One family even comes along to join in.

“Dodgeball is a mixed sport which allows adults of all ages to get active while having fun at the same time.
“The sessions were set up to increase and promote dodgeball opportunities as well as physical activity participation in the borough.
“For those that are keen to take part, there are also opportunities to participate in friendly matches and tournaments against other teams and in the longer term, the aim is to create a Havering dodgeball club.
“New participants are always welcome and if you are unsure about coming by yourself, don’t worry, it is a good way to meet new people and you will soon be throwing and, hopefully dodging, the balls.
“You are never too old to try something new!”
