3rd Collier Row Scout Group is one of 15 Scout groups around Romford, and has recently celebrated its 70th anniversary.
It was founded in 1942 by a 14-year-old boy creating the “Lone Patrol”, and within two years the Cub pack for younger boys had also formed.
Members of all three sections (aged six-14) work toward activity and challenge badges building skills from map reading to water activities and circus skills to pioneering.
For the last 10 years girls have also been part of each section – one even became the first female patrol leader to win the top Scout trophy in Romford!
All of our members have the chance to camp each year with our next camp planned for 2014 to visit Disneyland Paris!
Lewis, aged seven, said: “I enjoy playing the different games, also trying different foods. The best bit is when we go camping, I love it. I also like raft building and days out.”
Some 88 per cent of young people across the Scout Association said that Scouting helps them improve their key skills, including social skills, teamwork ability, leadership ability and confidence.
So not only do we have lots of fun (including the leaders), we also help all of the young members build valuable life skills. We are always looking for more young and adult members, so get in touch via the details on this page.
