“We have been told that we are the first WI group in Romford in all the years that the WI organisation has been in existence!

“We are very much in our infancy as we have been up and running little under a year and will be celebrating our first anniversary in June. Our membership is steadily increasing each month through word of mouth.

“We try not to be what people think of as a “typical” WI, as we like to think that our group appeals to the younger thinking, and perhaps, more adventurous women of Romford as we arrange inspirational talks from guest speakers and empowering demonstrations like women’s self-defence.

“Our meeting themes differ from month to month, but always with a current feel, to enable our members to go away from every meeting with a sense of knowledge, achievement and inspiration.

“We also try to do something for charity each month or every other month.

“Last month we joined forces with Tesco Gallows Corner, making up over 50 pamper bags for the Havering Women’s Aid Refuge.

“We always welcome new members and would love for people to come and see what we are all about.”
