A charity which supports children in a hospital paediatric ward has raised more than £12,800 from three events held last month.

Clowns in the Sky collected the sum following events in Havering and Essex.

Some of the money will go towards the brain tumour charity’s arts and crafts and sensory trolleys in the tropical lagoon ward at Queen’s Hospital, Rom Valley Way, Romford.

Havering’s first event involved firefighters Nick Barnes and Gary Faulkner boxing at the David Lloyd Centre, Gidea Park. Organisers Lee Brown donated £1,300.

The second, two days later, had clairvoyant Diane White holding her annual Messages for Christmas event at Romford United Services and Social Club.

She collected £573 through a raffle.

The charity’s winter ball, at Orsett Hall, Orsett, raised £11,000 and featured entertainment from vocal group Class A.

Donna Byrne, Clowns in the Sky’s development officer, said: “I’d like to thank everyone involved in the events. Please don’t forget that donations help Clowns support children diagnosed with brain tumours, with the main aim to put a smile on the faces of children suffering with this awful condition.”
