A campervan converted for medical use was destroyed in a fire on Thursday evening.
The ambulance, which fire crews say was due to be donated for use in Pakistan, caught light around 7.30pm at it’s depot in Coldharbour Lane, Rainham.
A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: “Two appliances from Wennington controlled the blaze for about an hour and a half and stopped it spreading to anywhere else at the A1 Spares site.
“The vehicle was completely destroyed, it was one of a several charity ambulances that they were sending to Pakistan.”
The cause of the fire is still being investigated but the spokesman added it may have been an electrical fault.
A man was robbed of his phone, money and ordered to leave a train at Upminster station in a “terrifying ordeal”, transport police said.
