Campaigners in drive to save Upminster Mini-Golf Course

A campaign to save a “run down” mini-golf course will launch next month after residents clubbed together in support of the attraction.

The inaugural meeting of the Friends of Upminster Mini-Golf Course is set to take place on September 4 at the Cranham Community Centre in Marlborough Gardens, Cranham.

Buoyed by a petition of 650 signatories, Residents’ Association leader, Cllr Clarence Barrett, is leading a push for funding to the below-par site.

Cllr Barrett said: “The response to join has been fantastic. This is a great community asset which should be enjoyed by young and old alike. Without a moderate degree of investment it will become even more run down, attracting fewer users and placing its long term future as green and open space in jeopardy.”

The first meeting will set up a formal constitution and set out a community plan of action.
