“Bright, happy and energetic” 18-year-old Aashi Sinha, from Gidea Park, died on May 8, last year.

Now the popular student’s aunt Dr Shanjula Sharma and family friend Karthy Sooraj and will hold a fundraising cake sale at Gidea Park Library, nearly a year on from Aashi’s death to raise funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young (Cry).

There will be a Cry representative at the event.

Karthy said: “Aashi was a bright, happy and energetic 18-year-old who tragically collapsed and died.

“Gidea Park Library have been very supportive and has agreed to provide the space for the event.

“The success of the event will depend entirely on support from local residents.”

People passionate about baking can also take part in the fundraiser at the Balgores Lane venue, on May 10, from noon.

Cry was founded in 1995 to raise awareness of conditions that can lead to young sudden cardiac death (YSCD).

The charity is dependant on funds raised by people and communities to carry out various awareness programmes, bereavement support for families and research.

Anyone interested in helping should contact Karthy by email on karthy.sooraj@yahoo.co.uk
