The Mayor of Havering has officially opened Broadford Primary School after its £4.5m rebuild.
Parts of the school were opened for children to use in October 2011.
But the new nursery and reception classrooms were only finished in December.
Work on the outdoor areas for the Early Years children was completed at the start of this term.
Youngsters can now climb up to view the school ground from their treehouse, dig for treasure in the sandpit and develop their music skills in the sound garden.
Gill Gordon, chairman of governors at the school, said: “For our pupils, parents and staff, it has felt like a very long time for this project to be completed.
“However the wait has been worth it.”
Mayor Cllr Lynden Thorpe said: “The school really is state of the art. The pupils and council should be rightly proud of the wonderful learning environment they have created.”
