Residents are being urged to travel with caution as icy conditions have returned.
Essex Highways’ 60 winter gritting lorries were out in force yesterday (Sunday) and returned to the roads from 3am this morning. A spokesman said further runs will take place as required.
You can get the latest information about which roads have been salted and where the gritting lorries are from the live tracking system at www.essex.gov.uk/highways. You can also receive updates by following @Essex_Travel on Twitter.
County Cllr Derrick Louis, cabinet member for highways and transportation, said: “As icy conditions return I am urging all residents to travel with extra caution, especially on untreated side roads and pavements.
“We are keeping a close eye on weather forecasts, and decisions on further salting runs will be taken as required.”
The bloodied man seen ranting on camera minutes after a soldier was hacked to death in Woolwich yesterday was raised in an “ultra-Christian household” in Romford, friends of the family claim.
