Brentwood to benefit from South East LEP £442.2m funding boost

15:25 07 July 2014

Brentwood is set to benefit from three new multi-million pound transport schemes being undertaken in South Essex.

The South East Local Enterprise Partnership announced £155.8m of Government funding would be ploughed into the south of the county.

A four-and-a-half mile stretch of the A13 between Pitsea and the Orsett Cock, in Thurrock, will be widened to six lanes, while the A127 will get an overhaul at four-pinch points.
Southend’s Victoria Avenue will also be revamped, with the town itself set to receive a £7million boost.

The works were announced today after the South East Local Enterprise secured £442.2m altogether for development projects across the region.

Brentwood will also benefit from efforts across the region to develop new business parks in association with the

area’s universities.

The LEP said it aimed to invest in colleges and other training providers to raise skill levels and help people into jobs.

It is also planning to streamline support for businesses by rolling out a wider model based on the Southend Growth Hub, providing advice, guidance and access to finance.
