Police are appealing for information after a collision in West Horndon that left three people with serious injuries.

The crash happened between two white Ford Transit vans and a cyclist on Wednesday, September 12, in St Mary’s Lane at the junction with Childerditch Lane at about 9.30am.

The cyclist, a 17-year-old boy from the Grays area, was left with serious pelvic and leg injuries. He was taken by paramedics to Queen’s Hospital, Romford, but was later transferred to the Royal London Hospital. Police said he is in a serious but stable condition.

One of the van drivers, a man, 36, from Grays, had serious spinal and internal injuries. He was taken to Basildon University Hospital and later transferred to Queen’s Hospital, Romford.

The passenger in the van, a 16-year-old boy also from the Grays area, sustained facial injuries and was taken to Basildon hospital. He has since been treated and discharged.

The second van driver, a man, 60, from Chelmsford, was taken by paramedics to Queen’s Hospital, Romford, with head injuries. Officers said he is in a serious but stable condition.

A section of the road was closed for approximately four hours while officers investigated the crash.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact Chigwell Road policing unit on 101.
