Essex County Council has carried out a speed review survey that could see speeds on some roads reduced to 20mph.

New lower speed limits could be enforced across the county after a review by Essex County Council.
The review of its speed management policy was in response to public concerns around speed limits and road safety.
As a result of the review the 12 Essex local highway panels will be able to recommend speed reduction schemes, which could includes new 20mph limits outside schools.
County Cllr Derrick Louis, cabinet member for highways and transportation, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to review the application of our speed management policy.
By giving local highways panels the power to put forward speed reduction schemes we will be more responsive to the needs of local communities and highways users.”
