Hutton Community Centre could be back in use in the New Year.
Brentwood Council have put out to tender the crucial repair work needed before the centre can be used again.
Responses to the tender are due back by October 1. A recommendation will then be presented to the performance and resources committee on October 9.
Leader of Brentwood Council and chair of the Hutton Community Centre working group, Cllr Louise McKinlay said: “We’ve worked really hard with the community, architects and professional surveyors to come up with an affordable solution for the centre.
“It will enable a diverse number of groups within the local community to come forward and use it as a facility for sports activities and social events during the day and evenings as well as including a youth club in the evening.”
