A boy has received serious head injuries after being hit by a car in Brentwood this afternoon (Wednesday).

The boy, aged 12, who is a pupil at St Martin’s School nearby, was injured after the collision with a blue Ford Fiesta in Hanging Hill Lane, Hutton at about 3.25pm.

East of England Ambulance Service paramedics took the boy to Queen’s Hospital, where he is in a stable condition. Hertfordshire Air Ambulance attended the scene via a rapid response car and accompanied the boy in the ambulance to hospital.

Police have closed the surrounding roads while they investigate.

St Martin’s Sixth Form was due to host an open evening tonight has cancelled its event after the road closures.
