Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information after a car overturned in a collision with a lorry in New Road, Wennington, just after midnight.

Police were called at around 12.50am today, Sunday, March 18, by the London Ambulance Service to a report of a car overturned on the A13 junction with New Road.

Four occupants were out of the vehicle by the time the emergency services arrived.

They were taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment and three have since been discharged.

One man remains in hospital in a serious and life-threatening condition.

A car and a lorry were involved in the collision and the drivers of those vehicles are assisting police with their inquiries.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are investigating.
